Rejoice America! A national pastime of our national pastime has officially commenced thanks to the atlanta Braves. In a cruel twist of fate, the Braves, owners of the MLB’s worst record at 10-29 was relieved of his duties…or perhaps liberated from the cruel hand the baseball gods have dealt…in his 6th season at the helm. Despite having neither the talent or resources to win in atlanta this year, Gonzalez becomes the first manager to be removed mid-season, undoubtedly warming the seats of several of his colleagues with his departure. There’s nothing more we love than speculating on who will be next to lose their job of sitting in a dugout in baseball uniform while adjusting a lineup card, so here’s who we see being unemployed by their organization fairly soon. Mike Scioscia, Angels Want to feel old? Scioscia is the longest tenured manager in baseball, having begun his reign in Anaheim (or is it Los Angeles?) in 2000. There’s no doubt the Angels have had some amazing times under Scioscia, the sultan of the small ball, with the pinnacle coming with the team’s World Series title in 2002. However, the Angels are now working on a streak where they’ve missed the playoffs for 5 of the past 6 seasons, being swept by Kansas City in the lone outlier in 2014.
